Thesis Abstract
This project examines the courtly love dynamics from Arthurian Literature in contemporary sapphic fiction. Examining ways women are pushed to the brink of emotion by their societal roles and expectations, this thesis will cover questions of loyalty, worship, and sacrifice. Examined texts will include, Gideon the Ninth, Yellow Jackets, Priory of the Orange Tree, utilizing theorists such as Leo Bersani, Jack Halberstam, and Judith Butler.
